Established in 1997, Liquidweb is basically a managed dedicated host. Even though they offer VPS and shared hosting, they are best known for their dedicated servers. The USP of Liquidweb is their customer support, which they call “Heroic Support”. Heroic or otherwise, within their price range, there are very few hosts that give as much stress on customer support as Liquidweb.
Liquidweb Network and
Datacenter Review
Liquidweb owns and operates three data centers. The total capacity of three data centers together is around 35,000 with the latest one at Lansing, Mich. alone having a capacity of 25000 servers. This particular data center is of 90,000 sq. feet size and will support a new cloud computing product from Liquidweb as well. All the data centers have the required power back up and security systems in place.
Bandwidth is provided by at&t, Verizon, Saavis, Sprint , Level(3) etc. making it redundant and super fast. This allows Liquidweb to offer a 100% network uptime guarantee on the SLA.
Liquidweb Server
management
Liquidweb offers fully managed servers, which means they will take care of server monitoring, restoration of services and they will even help you migrate your data to their system. The server monitoring service will monitor all the required services like HTTP, MySQL, SMTP etc. Any service failure will be reported to the service restoration team and they will correct the service, even before the client notice the same.
They also offer 30 minutes hardware replacement guarantee, in case of hardware failure. Liquidweb will also take care of software upgrades and patching of control panel, OS etc. without any request from the client.
Liquidweb Customer
Support Review
Customer support is the highlight of Liquidweb experience. They offer 30 minutes guaranteed initial response time for support tickets, which is great. As usual, there are toll free numbers and support tickets, but no on line chat. Liquidweb support is arguably one of the best in the industry and they would make the best efforts to support even third party application installed on the server.
Liquidweb Pricing
Liquidweb dedicated servers start at $149 per month and VPS at $60 per month. Even the entry level servers are of reasonable configuration and should not be compared with cheap dedicated servers from other hosts.
Liquidweb is not exactly a budget host, but if you consider the fact that they offer server management as well, their rates are reasonable. To give a clear picture, Liquidweb charges nearly 50% more than a Godaddy unmanaged server but only 50% of what Rackspace would charge for a similar configuration.
Liquidweb Offers
Liquidweb provides few coupons for VPS and dedicated servers. For details, please refer to the Liquidweb Coupons page.
Recommendation
Liquidweb is one of the best choice for managed dedicated server and VPS. For a managed service, their rates are very reasonable. They take complete care of the servers including monitoring and restarting services, OS and application security updates, security hardening and firewalls and so on. Unless you are looking for a cheap self managed server, Liquidweb is an option worth considering.
